DISTRIBUTION AND SOME PROBLEMS IN THE ELUCIDATION OF OXYGEN AND PHOSPHATE CONCENTRATION EXTREMES IN PACIFIC OCEAN (Raspredelenie i Nekotorye Voprosy Vyyavleniya Ekstemalnykh Kontsentratsii Kisloroda i Fosfatov v Tikhom Okeane),

Abstract

Methods for estimating oxygen minima and phosphate maxima are described. The main oxygen minimum and phosphate maximum are observed everywhere in the Pacific Ocean. In order to estimate the main oxygen minimum in the ocean it is necessary to use the oxygen-phosphate diagram. Maps showing the distribution of the main oxygen minimum and phosphate maximum have been compiled and their applications are discussed. The results obtained are in agreement with the circulation patterns previously presented. (Author)
