THE EFFECT OF RADIATION ON ELECTRICAL INSULATING MATERIALS,

Abstract

The report compiles and summarizes the information available in the Radiation Effects Information Center's technical files on the effects of steady-state radiation on electrical insulating materials. The insulating materials are classified as organic or inorganic with separate sections on bulk type specimens (film, sheet, etc.), wire and cable insulation, encapsulating compounds, and connectors and terminals. It is the intent of the report to provide information for 'ballpark' or broad estimates of the effect of radiation on various insulating materials and is meant to be used as a guide in the early design stages.
