DETERMINATION OF THE EXCITATION REACTION OF THE OH RADICAL IN H2-O2 COMBUSTION

Abstract

In this study, a method has been outlined for investigating extrathermal radiation from flames. In the case of chemiluminescence, a method of approach for isolating the chemical reactions responsible was shown. A method for calculating the excitation reaction rate of such a reaction was developed. An indirect result of this study was the conclusion that the concept of partial equilibrium is valid for lean H2-O2 flames downstream of the reaction zone. This supports the belief of many investigators in reaction kinetics.
