RC-135A/USQ-28 CATEGORY II TEST (EVALUATION OF THE EXPONENTIAL METHOD TO DETERMINE IOR PROFILES).

Abstract

An IOR computer program was written to determine the true velocity and IOR profiles utilizing temperature, pressure, and humidity data acquired from three sources; namely, the SHIRAN ground equipment, the radiosonde, and the SHIRAN airborne equipment. An alternate IOR computer program was written that would not utilize radiosonde data. Using data that were collected during the AN/USQ-28 Category II flight tests, both computer programs were run to the point where the corrected slant ranges of the D. two methods could be compared.
