SELECTING THE AMOUNT OF LOST STROKE IN A TWO-CYCLE ENGINE WITH COMBINED MANIFOLD PRESSURE,

Abstract

Experimental data are presented which make it possible to calculate the desired amount of lost stroke for a two-cycle engine with combined manifold pressure. A value of lost stroke = 0.4 is recommended for the engine tested. In order to select the appropriate amount of lost stroke, it is necessary to carry out an analysis of the effect of lost stroke on the parameters which determine the average indicating pressure. The required formulas are presented in the text. Calculation of the work in the piston at the time of the gas exchange processes introduces an important correction. (Author)
