IMPACT OF NUMERICAL CONTROL ON MANAGEMENT,

Abstract

As a result of the integration of computer controls into the machine tool complexes and the use of various forms of energy for processing metal, management and the manufacturing engineer have been placed into a new industrial environment. The paper discusses the impact of new manufacturing technology on organization and management. It also reports the positive actions being pursued by the Army in exploiting numerical control technology and the progress that has been made in this area since 1967. Numerical control equipment acquisition growth rate and trends in the Army and in industry in the acquisition of numerical control tools are portrayed and compared by graphical illustration.
