ON THE PROPERTIES OF THE MOTION WITH CONSTANT STRETCH HISTORY OCCURRING IN THE MAXWELL RHEOMETER.

Abstract

It is demonstrated that the steady flow occurring in the Maxwell orthogonal rheometer is a motion with a constant stretch history. The five material functions arising in this flow are obtained and shown to possess a close relation with viscometric material functions. It is also shown that the rheometer can be used to determine whether the material being sheared is a simple fluid with fading memory. (Author)
