EFFECT OF MIXED GAMMA-NEUTRON RADIATIONS ON PLASMA AND URINE AMINO ACID LEVELS IN THE RAT,

Abstract

Approximately 27 acid or neutral and 13 basic amino acids and metabolites were quantified in plasma and urine of Sprague-Dawley rats 24, 48, and 72 hours after 740- to 10,000-rad doses of mixed gamma-neutron radiations. None of the postirradiation alterations in the plasma concentrations and urinary excretion rates of these compounds has any value as a biological dosimeter or indicator of radiation damage in the dose range investigated.
