THE DAVID TAYLOR MODEL BASIN GAS DYNAMICS WIND-TUNNEL FACILITY,

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to provide information pertaining to the supersonic and hypersonic wind-tunnel facilities available in the Gas Dynamics Division of the Aerodynamics Laboratory at the David Taylor Model Basin. A general description is given of the four wind tunnels comprising the division facilities, the data acquisition equipment and instrumentation, and the method of data reduction and presentation. Distinctive features of each channel, including the method of operation, the type of test to which the tunnel is best adapted, and other information of interest to prospective users of the facilities are also discussed.
