THE UTILIZATION OF BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE RESEARCH FOR AN APPLIED PROBLEM: THE MANAGEMENT OF CRISES.

Abstract

The document is concerned with crises, which may be regarded as complex stressors that involve threat, decision pressure, and a need to improvise. It considers some of the stress literature relevant to the study of crises, and refers to laboratory and simulation studies. Crisis management is held to involve information (uncertainty), the selection and training of personnel, and control either for purposes of attenuation or for exploitation. (Author)
