RADIO AND OPTICAL EMISSION FROM HIGH ENERGY COSMIC RAYS.

Abstract

A fast optical Cerenkov system has been used to search for gamma-rays from pulsars in the energy region 1000-10,000 Gev. Analysis has been carried out for both a continuous flux and a pulsed flux at the pulsar frequency. Several experiments have been carried out on radio pulses emitted by extensive air showers in the atmosphere. A long distance coincidence experiment, a correlation between radio pulses and particles, and between radio pulses and optical Cerenkov pulses have been carried out at 44 and 70 MHz. Pulses in the U.H.F. Band at 520-550 MHz have been observed in coincidence with particles. (Author)
