Abstract

On 09 April 1965, eight F4H carrier based interceptors intruded into Chinese air space over Hainan Island. They were armed with Sparrow air to air guided missiles. One of the planes accidentally shot itself down with its own missile. The wreckage of the plane and missile were recovered in Tung-fang Hsien Hainan Island. (Author)
