HIGH-STRENGTH ORIENTED FIBERGLASSES, VOLUME 2,

Abstract

This book generalizes the results of experimental and theoretical studies on the preparation of high-strength oriented glass- reinforced plastics. Chapters 1 and 2 discuss the structure and properties of glass and certain other fibers, and of linear and cross-linked polymeric binders. Chapter 3 deals with the physical and chemical interaction of fibers and polymers, with study methods of adhesion, with factors affecting the adhesion strength, and with the dependence of the adhesion strength on temperature and time. Chapter 4 describes special features of the structure of oriented glass-reinforced plastics and their physicomechanical properties, examines factors affecting the properties and the behavior of glass-reinforced plastics under different conditions, and establishes laws governing the effective utilization of the properties of the components of the reinforced material. There are 495 Communist World and 382 Western references. (Author-PL)
