AGRICULTURAL POLICIES AND PERFORMANCE,

Abstract

Broadly one can distinguish four phases in Communist China's agricultural development during this period: land reform and rehabilitation in 1949-1952, the collectivization movement and the First Five Year Plan (FFYP) in 1953-1957, the Great Leap and the communes in 1958-1959, and the subsequent crisis, recovery, and the Cultural Revolution in 1960-1968. The document discusses the major problems, policies and performance in the agricultural sector in these four periods. (Author)
