HEAT TRANSFER IN CONNECTION WITH ORGAN AND TISSUE PRESERVATION.

Abstract

An idealization of the renal vascular system and the surrounding thermal mass was outlined. The model is to be used to make transient time-temperature predictions for freezing and thawing of kidneys by perfusing liquids. Some of the anatomical information required in this model development was outlined. A kidney perfusion apparatus was designed, constructed, and tested; it is to be used to measure the overall renal flow resistance as a function of temperature and pressure level as well as perfusion time.
