CIRCULAR BEAMS WITH OUT-OF-PLANE LOADING.

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to make possible simplified calculations of stresses and deflection at any point in a curved beam of uniform cross section. An out-of-plane load, which is a load normal to the plane of curvature, is assumed. 17 different loading and support conditions are considered. The results apply to 4 different cross sectional shapes. A Poisson's ratio of 0.3, usually used for steel and aluminum, is assumed. (Author)
