A TECHNIQUE FOR DISSECTING AND RECORDING HOLOGRAPHIC INFORMATION.

Abstract

Techniques of optically imaging a hologram on the photocathode of a camera tube, dissecting this two-dimensional pattern into TV-type serial information for electrical transmission to another location, and reconstituting the serial information into a holographic pattern with the aid of a very-high-resolution (VHR) cathode-ray tube (CRT) at the remote location are presented. Resolution capabilities of the optical system, camera tube, and recording CRT are examined. Overall results of dissecting, transmitting, and recording from a basic 220 lp/mm transmission grating are presented and discussed. Techniques and components for an improved system are discussed with respect to the initial design approach. (Author)
