CALCULATION OF DEBYE TEMPERATURE FOR CRYSTALS OF ARBITRARY SYMMETRY,

Abstract

This is a continuation of earlier work by one of the authors where a method was developed for the calculation of the Debye temperatures for crystals of various symmetry. In the present article the method is applied to crystals of lower symmetry - triclinic and monoclinic. Although the derived formulas are suitable for the most general case of triclinic crystals it is pointed out that their practical use is limited by the lack of data on the elastic constants of triclinic crystals. Tables of the elastic constants and of the Debye temperatures are presented for various compounds.
