A DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION WHOSE MOMENTS ARE CLOSE TO THOSE OF THE NORMAL LAW,

Abstract

The distance is estimated in a uniform metric between two distribution functions, one of which is normal, from the given distances between their corresponding moments (up to a certain order). This result is used to estimate the distance in a uniform metric from a set of all normal distribution functions to each of two distribution functions whose composition moments are close to the corresponding moments (up to a certain order) of the normal law.
