Abstract
An instructor's manual for the production control system simulator (PROSIM) has been completed and instructional use of PROSIM has been evaluated. In industrial engineering, several algorithmic programs for computer aided design of production systems have been collected, made operational, and evaluated comparatively. A number of programs are described which contribute to the automation of the machine design process. A report documenting the polynomial manipulation system program has been completed. Research is reported in algorithms for Boolean function minimization, logic design of switching systems, and design of sequential automata. Several reports have been completed. In Physics, a new research area, emphasizing the electronic structure of disordered materials and numerical calculation of the properties of classical statistical systems, has begun.
