EXPERIMENTAL EVALUATION OF COOPERATIVE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM.

Abstract

The objective of the study was to evaluate a cooperative aircraft collision avoidance system (CAS), based on utilization of altitude and range information only, with emphasis on the ground reflection method of measuring range. The results of a flight test to determine the maximum decay time of ground reflections are reported, and bench tests to determine the susceptibility of the S-measuring technique to various levels of simulated random noise pulses are discussed.
