OPTICAL PUMPING OF LASERS.

Abstract

The calculated and measured emission spectra of a 40-amp-2.5 atmosphere xenon arc discharge are compared. The measured and calculated line spectra agree with each other to within the accuracy of each spectrum whereas the measured and calculated continuum spectra differ by 100%. Five trial power series expansions have been selected for the parameter fitting (PF) method. In PF the radial wave function is given by a power series expansion with adjustable parameters. These fitting parameters are then adjusted to reproduce the known Slater integrals. (Author)
