PILOT EXTERNAL VISIBILITY CRITERIA AND DESIGN AIDS.

Abstract

Several factors influencing external visibility criteria for aerospace vehicles are discussed. Design aids and tools are developed to aid the crew station designer confronted with providing external vision. A computer program is listed for generating various visibility plots on a CALCOMP or a SC-4020 cathode-ray tube plotting machine. Transformation information is presented to plot planar windows formed from straight lines and/or circles. To show the application of the design aids and the computer program, a conceptual high L/D lifting body vehicle configuration was used throughout the report as an example. (Author)
