PREPARATION, REACTIONS AND STRUCTURES OF TRANSITION METAL OLEFIN COMPOUNDS AND RELATED SUBSTANCES.
Abstract
A summary of work performed during the four year grant period is outlined. Major areas involved in the acquisition of new knowledge were: (1) The structures of metal-olefin compounds containing silver, palladium and iron; (2) New olefin complexes of silver and copper; (3) New manganese and rhenium carbonyl complexes containing nitriles and aromatic ligands. (4) A systematic examination of the n.m.r. spectra of platinum and palladium olefin compounds; (5) A kinetic study on the solvolysis of platinum and palladium compounds. (6) New complexes of triphenylphosphine gold compounds involving a periodic valence states of gold; (7) A study of the thermal motion of CS2 in the solid state and its relation to the motion of the olefin group in metal-olefins.
