SIMPLIFIED HYDRAZINE-AIR FUEL CELL SYSTEM.

Abstract

A significant approach toward simplifying the manpack hydrazine-air fuel cell is the use of hydrazine-air bicells. Hydrazine-air bicells are capable of operating at high fuel concentrations and have inherent electrolyte circulation which eliminates the use of electrolyte pumps. Techniques for the fabrication of a simplified hydrazine fuel cell system using bicells and modular auxiliary components are outlined. The capability of simple unit exchange significantly extends the life of the system. Optimization of the bicell design and the modular concept will lead to the development of more reliable, more durable and less costly manpack power sources. (Author)
