RESEARCH ON ELLIPTICAL AIRFOIL WITH JET CIRCULATION CONTROL.
Abstract
Results are presented from an experimental investigation of the performance characteristics of elliptical airfoils with a jet-flap. Several 18% elliptical airfoils with 12-inch chord were tested in a subsonic wind tunnel. Circulation control was provided by ejecting air from the model airfoil through spanwise slots in the trailing edge of the airfoil. Tests included models mounted with a sweep angle with the tunnel flow direction, with spanwise variation in jet slot width, and with different jet-flap angles. The results are presented in graphical form for the purpose of comparing characteristics. (Author)
