A COLLECTION OF SOME PAPERS ON BALL BEARING RESEARCH AT R.A.E. FROM 1958 TO 1960.

Abstract

The first two reports in this collection describe the research leading to the discovery of the reasons for the failure of ball retaining cages in 'deep-groove' ball bearings used in electrical machines. These are followed by a 'Code of Practice', and details of practical laboratory techniques used to investigate the subject are given in the fourth and fifth papers. Finally there is a theoretical and computer study which shows the factors affecting the selection of a bearing and the factors affecing the design of the cage pockets. (Author)
