A STANDPIPE HEAT EXCHANGER FOR USE IN A STANDARD CO2 GAS SUPPLY SYSTEM FOR POWERED ARTIFICIAL LIMBS.

Abstract

Irregular pressure regulation and abnormally high system pressures occurring under certain conditions in a standard carbon dioxide gas supply system used for artificial limbs have been investigated. A major reason for the reported malfunctioning was found to be the presence of carbon dioxide liquid downstream of the pressure regulator. In an attempt to overcome this problem, alternative cylinder non-return valves were evaluated and two standpipe devices were designed and tested. (Author)
