MICROORGANISMS IN ROCK WEATHERING,

Abstract

The paper reviews literary materials on the participation of microorganism in the destruction of rocks and minerals. A study of rocks involves heterotropic microflora feeding at the expense of organic matter contained in algae and lichens. Organic acids formed as a result of oxidation of organic compounds by microorganisms are noted.
