INVESTIGATION OF TURBULENT CONDITIONS IN THE SURFACE LAYER OF THE ATMOSPHERE IN VARIOUS GEOGRAPHICAL REGIONS,

Abstract

Data on the annual and diurnal gradients of meteorological elements, collected at meteorological network stations (1954-1956), in the surface boundary layer of the atmosphere are the basis for a study of low-level turbulence occurring in several areas of the USSR. Values of the turbulence exchange coefficient 1 m above the ground were measured. The turbulence coefficient was calculated by using data from the three stations having the most complete observational data and best representing different climatic conditions. Results obtained for the 1-m level are tabulated and presented in figure form. Analysis of these data showed definite trands in the annual variation of the turbulence exchange coefficient 1 m above the ground in different climatic regions. (Author)
