AN INSURV/EIC DICTIONARY. EIC SUBSYSTEM LEVEL,

Abstract

In a previous paper (AD-675 953) an INSURV/EIC cross-reference dictionary was discussed and presented which was limited to material entities contained within the configuration of the destroyer type of ships. This related the EIC system (first digit of the Equipment Identification Code) to an INSURV line element. The resultant dictionary furnished some bounds for continuing the research. Thus it established that, for various reasons described, only 245 elements legitimately could be contained in the dictionary and that only 21 of 27 EIC systems would ever pertain to a destroyer (DD). In the present paper the dictionary is carried one step further by fractionating each of the 21 valid EIC systems (one-digit code) into its EIC subsystems (two-digit) and relating these to the 245 valid line elements.
