INVESTIGATION OF ADVANCED METHODS OF MEASURING CANNON TUBE BORES.

Abstract

The present air gaging system used to measure bore diameters of cannon tubes, although adequate, has presented air-filtering, set-up and installation problems. This system also requires manual recording of individual tube bore measurements. These problems increase the probability of down-time and result in the loss of inspection time. The use of the new electronic measuring system provides for greater accuracy and repeatability, offers automatic recording of measurements, eliminates the possibility of human error and reduces down-time and valuable inspection time.
