RADAR CRITERIA FOR THE CLASSIFICATION OF THUNDERSTORM AND SHOWER ACTIVITY,

Abstract

The report contains methods for numerical analysis of radar information that make possible the detection of the existence of cumulonimbus clouds with high statistical reliability and the location of areas of thunderstorms and shower activity in them. Numerical criteria based on a knowledge of the spatial distribution of the upper edge of the radar echo and its intensity at two altitude levels are presented. (Author)
