FUTURE LAND-MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS,

Abstract

Numerous reports have indicated the impending critical shortage, within large metropolitan areas, of frequencies allocated to certain of the land-mobile radio services, including those used by police, fire, taxi, business, special industrial, 'domestic public,' and other land-mobile services. In this paper some possible long-range objectives of land-mobile radio systems are examined; several effective ways of improving present systems to achieve these objectives are discussed; and conclusions are drawn regarding the study programs that should be undertaken to initiate these improvements.
