AN APPROACH FOR MODELING THE US TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM FOR ANALYSIS OF EMERGENCY CAPABILITY,

Abstract

The report considers the problems of developing analytical tools for assessment of the adequacy of the continental US (CONUS) transportation system under a variety of postulated emergency situations that would stress the system through increased requirements for transportation or degradation of system capacity. The discussion covers the following topics: the types of emergency with which the methodology should be able to deal, the types of analysis to be performed, general specifications for the methodology, the proposed approach in terms of the analytical techniques to be used, and an illustrative formulation.
