SOLAR EMISSION AND ACTIVITY IN THE FREQUENCY REGION 18 TO 36 GIGACYCLES.
Abstract
The spectral distribution of solar radiation and the characteristics of solar activity have been studied intensively and may be considered well known in the megacycle region of the spectrum. Attention has turned recently to higher frequencies and it is being recognized that there is much to be learned about the sun by studying the emission and activity in the centimeter and millimeter wave region. The paper is a report of recent observations made over the frequency band 18 to Gc/sec and the correlation of the observations with optical data on sunspots, plages, and flares. One set of observations was carried out at the time of the flare event of April 25, 1969. (Author)
