VISIBILITY MODEL.

Abstract

A discussion of the factors which influence the ability of an aerial observer to see and identify a ground target is provided. On this foundation there has been constructed a mathematical model which predicts the probability of detection of a ground target under varying conditions of atmospheric clarity, flare location and intensity and the pertinent characteristics of target background.
