EFFECTIVENESS OF FEEDFORWARD STABILIZATION.

Abstract

Tracking radars installed aboard instrumentation ships require sophisticated systems of stabilization. Gyros mounted on the tracking radar have been the classical approach to this problem. Recently however, a system known as Feedforward Stabilization has been perfected. The feedforward stabilization can be used separately or as an additional enhancement to gyro stabilization. This paper describes the application of feedforward stabilization to a specific installation (USNS General H. S. Vandenberg) and the quantitative measurement of its effectiveness using unique digital computer programs employing frequency domain processing as well as time domain processing. (Author)
