PROGRESS IN IMAGE PROCESSING TECHNIQUES AND EQUIPMENT.

Abstract

The report describes the current emphasis of image processing research at the laboratory. The following aspects of the work are described: image processing studies, sensor studies, the image processing computer system and image processing equipment. The image processing studies compare the performance of different methods of image restoration as a function of noise level in the degraded image. The sensor studies compare the noise characteristics for several different sensors used for recording images. The capabilities of the computer system used for image processing and the program philosophy are described. The characteristics of the image scanning and display systems used as input and output devices for the image processing facility are reported. (Author)
