THE EVALUATION OF EXPERIMENTAL FABRICS AS ALTERNATES FOR STANDARD WOOL FABRICS

Abstract

The thickness-pressure relationships for a group of 21 serge constructions and coverts have been determined in the pressure range 0.002 to 0. 1 lb/in2 both in the airdry and in the moist condition. Longitudinal wicking tests have been made on a series of blended fabrics and on a group of all wool fabrics of varying constructions. Methods are described for evaluating the surface contact of fabrics and the thermal resistance of a group of alternate serges and coverts was measured.
