MYCOBACTERIOLOGY LABORATORY METHODS

Abstract

The report presents in detail the latest methodology for isolation, culture, and identification of pathogenic mycobacteria. Methodology and equipment for blue light excitation of fluorochrome (auramine 0)-stained mycobacteria and for blue light microscopy are discussed. Methods are described for direct and indirect drug susceptibility studies, serum drug levels, serum inhibition tests, and minimum inhibitory concentrations. Complete formulation and preparation of the modified Middlebrook and Cohn H10 0A agar medium and bioassay media are included.
