TOXOGONIN: BLOOD LEVELS AND SIDE EFFECTS AFTER INTRAMUSCULAR ADMINISTRATION IN MAN.

Abstract

Toxogonin, when given intramuscularly to 10 healthy young men, produced blood levels of oxime more than five times higher than those produced by equimolar doses of 2-PAMCl. Associated side effects included tachycardia, hypertension, and dose independent symptom complex consisting of a peroral warmth, paresthesia and hypalgesia, and a menthol taste. Some of the published data on the relative effectiveness of Toxogonin and 2-PAMCl, reviewed in the light of the current study, offer substantial reasons for further inquiry into Toxogonin's therapeutic potential.
