A STUDY OF SYNTHETIC REACTIONS OF GASEOUS COMPOUNDS FORMED AT HIGH TEMPERATURES CONTAINING GROUP III, IV, AND V ELEMENTS IN LOW VALENCE STATES.

Abstract

The report summarizes work concerned with the preparation and study of various high temperature molecular and atomic species of boron, silicon germanium, and phosphorus. It has had three objectives. First, to design apparatus for making high temperature species at low pressures on a preparative scale. Second, to try to make new high temperature species and characterise them. Third, and most important, to use the high temperature species as reagents in synthesis of new types of inorganic or organic compounds. (Author)
