STUDIES ON NOSEMA CUNICULI INFECTION IN MAN.

Abstract

As endoxan, an anti-tumor substance, definitely promoted the growth of Nosema cuniculi in vivo as described in previous reports, its effect was tested on in vitro growth of the parasite. Endoxan was added to Hela cell or L cell cultures in which N. cuniculi was inoculated. Time of exposure of the parasite to endoxan was 48 hours in one series of experiment and 20 days in another. Endoxan gave little effect on the growth of the parasite in vitro. The experiment was also carried out in 30C incubator instead of 37C. The parasite indicated a little better growth when endoxan was added in cultures in lower temperature. (Author)
