PROGRESS AND PITFALLS OF RURAL BURIED CABLE,

Abstract

In 1964 Alberta Government Telephones undertook a ten year, $80,000,000 program to provide buried 4 party service to the rural areas of Alberta. This paper uses experience gained during the first six years of the program to discuss cable design, past, present and future. Reasons are given for the various cable constructions used to date, and cable damage experienced is examined in some detail. (Author)
