LIFE VS. VOLTAGE PERFORMANCE OF FLAT CONDUCTOR CABLES AND LIGHT WEIGHT ROUND WIRE SYSTEMS,
Abstract
A study was made to arrive logically at appropriate voltage ratings for unshielded flat conductor cables and round insulated wires in air. The criterion used is corona starting at sea level and at various altitudes for single and multi-insulation systems. These idealized values depend upon the insulation thickness and dielectric constants. Observed data were in adequate agreement with the calculations. It is concluded that some existing constructions may have been rated at excessively high voltages. (Author)
