CHEMICAL HEAT TREATMENT IN NEW SALT MIXTURES ON THE BASIS OF CARBAMIDE (UREA),
Abstract
Summarized is the application of urea as an active component replacing alkaki cyanides. It may be subdivided into two parts from the standpoint of the working temperatures of the processes: chemical heat treatment at elevated temperatures and chemical heat treatment at low temperatures. The principle advantages of the new urea mixtures for salt baths are the nontoxicity of urea prior to melting, the elimination of stringent requirements in transportation, storage and also lowering of the cost of processing due to the low cost of the urea itself, and the reduction in the need for imported material.
