STUDIES IN CONTROL THEORY AND NONLINEAR MECHANICS.

Abstract

The original object of this research project was to study oscillations in nonlinear systems, with special interest in discontinuous systems (of a type which occur frequently in control technology). While activity has been undertaken also in related areas, we have remained interested in discontinuous differential (and integral) equations. A second broad area of our research has been concerned with positive solutions and comparison theorems for nonlinear (differential, integral or function) equations. An investigation has been carried out for the Cauchy problem and time-periodic solutions of a family of nonlinear wave equations. (Author)
