RADIATION OF IMPULSIVE ACOUSTIC TRANSIENTS.

Abstract

The pressure pulses radiated by boundaries undergoing a velocity step are studied for various plane and convex source geometries. The distribution of the work performed by the boundary between kinetic energy in the incompressible near-field and acoustic energy radiated to the far-field is analyzed. A variety of analytical formulations and asymptotic techniques applicable to acoustic transients are illustrated. (Author)
