INFORMATION ANALYSIS OF AREAS OF DISTRIBUTION OF SOME ARBOVIRUSES,

Abstract

As a concrete model for the analysis of the dependence of the distribution of foci of arboviruses which are transmitted by mosquitoes on separately taken physico-geographical factors we examined the area of distribution of three arboviruses on the territory of the USA and Canada (western and eastern equine encephalmyelitises and St. Louis encephalitis). In connection with this we considered it possible, in the overall analysis of distribution of arboviruses to disregard the influence of biotic factors, and to give basic attention to abiotic. A visual analysis of the resulting area of distribution revealed the confined nature of all the points of isolation to river valleys, lake basins, intermontane depressions, and lowlands. For the purpose of simplification of the analysis this bond within the limits of the area of distribution was accepted as absolute and subsequently the effect of climatic factors was examined only for territories which are similar in a geomorphological respect.
